- You can tell the artist the broader scope of the project (why do you need it / for what)
- You can tell the artist about the subject you wish to portray
- You can describe the project to the artist well enough for them to get the idea of your vision
- You can determine whether the commissioned piece is for personal or commercial use
- You can deliver references (pictures, sketches, other artworks) of your idea to the artist
- You can inform the artist of any time constraints on your end
- You can inform the artist if you require any required extra revisions
- You know which file format is required for the completion of the final delivery
- You can tell the artist how why you want to work with them
